Graduated with honours from the Faculty of General Medicine, Pirogov Russian National Research Medical University majoring in General Medicine.
In 1989 - 1992, worked as a resident physician and postgraduate student at the Myasnikov Institute of Clinical Cardiology, National Medical Research Center for Cardiology of the Russian Academy of Medical Sciences.
In 1992, defended his Candidate's dissertation: Clinical and Immunological Characteristics of Nonspecific Aortoarteritis (NAA) Complicated by Arterial Hypertension.
In 1992–1996, worked as a teaching assistant at the Department of Therapy, the Almaty Medical Institute of Continuing Education.
In 1994, his work – Antibodies to Cardiolipin in Patients with NAA was recognized as one of the best at the World Congress of Angiologists in London and awarded the Hippocrates Gold Medal.
In 1997–2013, headed medical departments of the pharmaceutical companies. In those years, he coordinated works with participation in international clinical trials and registries in various fields of medicine, including venous and arterial thrombosis.
In 2013–2018, worked as the Head of the Scientific Department at the Central Clinical Hospital JSC, the leader of the Working Group on Venous Thrombosis in Almaty and a member of the Working Group of the European Society on Thrombosis (EST).
Since 2018, has been working as the Head of the Department of Internal Medicine, Asfendiyarov Kazakh National Medical University and is a member of the EST Working Group on Stroke and Heart.
The main area of expertise of A.B. Sugraliev are clinical aspects of thrombo-, cardio- and angiology, in particular arterial, intracardiac and venous thrombosis, including superficial thrombosis. He is an author of more than 80 publications (of which 63 articles), including the study of the impact of the continuing medical educational program on the level of prevention of venous thrombosis at the hospital stage, guidelines, reviews, a monograph, and a chapter in the National COVID-19 Protocol: Anticoagulant therapy for COVID -19.
