From 1978 through the present, the medical, scientific, and scientific-organizational activity of Professor Yu.A. Karpov is inextricably linked with the Research Institute of Clinical Cardiology. A.L. Myasnikov. Yuri Alexandrovich studied in clinical residency in cardiology at the All-Soviet Union Cardiology Scientific Center of the USSR Academy of Medical Sciences, he defended his Ph.D. thesis, became a professor.
Scientific works of Yu.A. Karpov are devoted to the study and solution of a wide range of problems in the field of vascular tone regulation mechanisms in arterial hypertension and atherosclerosis. Yuri Alexandrovich made a significant contribution to solving the issues of increasing the drug and interventional treatment effectiveness of coronary heart disease. Yu.A. Karpov’s excellent scientific intuition translated into the ideas of large-scale Russian and international research and programs conducted under his leadership. The results of these studies are actively used by the world scientific community. Yu.A. Karpov is a well-known clinician and experienced health professional. He contributes a lot to the training of highly-qualified cardiologists who work in accordance with the strict principles of modern evidence-based medicine. Under the guidance of Yuri Alexandrovich, 20 candidate and 2 doctoral dissertations were completed and defended.
Yuri Alexandrovich is the author of about 500 scientific works. Yu.A. Karpov finds time to participate in the work of Russian and international scientific medical communities, collaborate with doctors and scientists working in vascular centers and cardiologic dispensary in Russia, and leads schools for doctors to diagnose and treat patients with cardiovascular diseases. Works of Yu.A. Karpov are known and recognized abroad; he often represents Russian science at international scientific congresses.
